Kylesa- To Walk A Middle Course
Havoc Records, US 2005

Found this recently. First pressing edition of 500 copies on yellow vinyl. And speaking of Kylesa, they have a new record coming out on May 28th!

This came out yesterday! And the 200 limited orange vinyl is long gone… and NO, I wasn’t quick enough to get an orange one…

Swans- The Seer
Young God Records, US 2012

Talk about a weird album… there is some really weird shit going on in here… It’s one of those records that seems to unfold a little more with each repeated listen.

Wax Idols- Discipline and Desire
Slumberland Records, US 2013

They are really sounding a lot like Siouxsie and The Banshees on this record. Not that I mind…

Unholy Cadaver- Unholy Cadaver
Shadow Kingdom Records, US 2011

Unholy Cadaver is basically Hammers of Misfortune before they changed their name. This record is a bunch of early shit that is actually some of their best (in my humble opinion). They’ve changed their lineup so much that they are hardly the same band anymore, but this collection is when they were actually metal and didn’t give a fuck. The song Hammers of Misfortune, which would later become their name, is an epic 15 minute metal masterpiece. One of my favorite songs of all time.

Moss- Sub Templum

Rise Above Records 2008

2nd pressing of 300 copies

This is one of the heaviest doom metal records I’ve ever heard. It is so fucking heavy that at first I thought the record was 45 RPM. Nope. It’s also probably one of the prettiest records I’ve bought. But don’t let its beauty fool you. This record makes me feel like I’m at the bottom of a swamp of murky sludge. If it’s possible to fall asleep to this, I’m sure it would ensue very bad dreams.

K-Holes- Dismania
Hardly Art 2012

Normally, I hate saxophones. I really, truly do. I think it’s my least favorite instrument to listen to. They always sound so cheesy and stupid. Yet, the K-Holes incorporate a sax into their music and somehow it fucking rocks.

White Lung- Two of You / Hunting Holiday 7”

Sabotage 2012

Got this signed by them the last time they came to town. White Lung is seriously one of my favorite bands. They should be everyone’s. Their live shows are like an assault and I mean that in the best way possible. Can’t wait to see them again on May 2nd!

Circle Takes The Square- Decompositions: Volume Number One
2xLP Ltd, Gatepost Recordings 2013

I preordered this record back in January and the release date kept getting pushed back. Finally shipped on April 15th and got to my door today. Seriously one of my favorite bands of all time and this is CTTS’s first new album since 2004. Really epic shit and if you haven’t heard this band, I HIGHLY recommend them!
